About Eco Truckee Tahoe
Eco Truckee Tahoe is an Eco-Journalism Project for reporting and commenting on environmental health and preservation of the region’s fragile ecology. The multimedia initiative is designed to inform the community and to promote public discussion of critical environmental issues. Our goal is to protect small town mountain and lake resort character of Truckee and nearby communities for the enjoyment of residents and visitors and as a legacy for future generations.
Eco Truckee Tahoe Eco-Journalism Project was launched with the help of volunteers and supporters of ecotourism and sustainable growth. It will operate under the guidance of Truckee resident, writer and journalist Ted Lipien, former acting associate director of the Voice of America (VOA) and former U.S. international broadcasting manager. His investigative reporting was recognized in Congressional Record and noted in mentions, reports and articles in NPR, CNN, FOX News, National Review, The Washington Times, The Washington Examiner, Government Executive, Digital Journal and in other media. He interviewed U.S. and world leaders, Nobel Prize winners and human rights activists, including George H.W. Bush, Pope John Paul II, and Lech Walesa. He currently serves as president of a media freedom NGO and as co-director of the Committee for U.S. International Broadcasting (CUSIB – cusib.org).
Eco Truckee Tahoe is looking for eco-journalism volunteers and story ideas. We also welcome photos, videos and other multimedia content related to local ecological, environmental and area development news. Other areas that may be of interest to our online audience include eco-friendly travel and transportation, shopping, eating, and entertainment.
